# Set Active Agent Version — POST /api/v1/set-active-version

> Designate which saved version of your Botsify agent is served in live conversations. The switch takes effect immediately with no restart required.

Use this endpoint to switch your agent to a different saved version. Once a version is set as active, all new conversations handled by that bot will use its configuration — including instructions, chat flow, memory, soul, identity, and user info — immediately, with no restart required.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Only one version can be active at a time. Setting a new version as active automatically deactivates the previously active version. The switch takes effect immediately for all new conversations.

## Request

**`POST https://app.botsify.com/api/v1/set-active-version`**

**Authorization:** Bearer token — include your token in the `Authorization: Bearer <token>` header.

### Body Parameters

**version\_id** `integer` *required*

The ID of the version you want to make active. You can retrieve available version IDs using the [List Agent Versions](/api-reference/agent-versions/list-versions.md) endpoint.

**bot\_id** `string`

The identifier of the bot to which the version belongs. Required when your token has access to multiple bots.

## Example

```bash theme={null}
curl --request POST \
  --url "https://app.botsify.com/api/v1/set-active-version" \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer <your_token>" \
  --header "Content-Type: application/json" \
  --data '{
    "version_id": 12,
    "bot_id": "42"
  }'
```

## Response

A successful request returns `200 OK` confirming which version is now active.

```json theme={null}
{
  "success": true,
  "active_version": {
    "id": 12,
    "name": "v2.0 — Tone Update",
    "is_active": true,
    "activated_at": "2024-06-10T12:00:00Z"
  }
}
```
